ISMI Councils

ISMI Councils serve as essential forums for benchmarking and information-sharing among member company managers and technologists. The Councils’ value is driven by the active participation of the members: members often share data and expertise for the benefit of the whole group.

Shared data can include performance metrics, success stories and best practices on topics selected by the participants. Councils typically meet three times per year in different locations around the world, either in person, when networking is key to information exchange or by virtual participation in meetings when travel is prohibitive. As a part of the in-person council meetings expert presentations, operations tours and supplier visits are often arranged for the group.

Fab Operations Councils

  • Manufacturing Methods Council - provides a forum for fab managers to share best practices in manufacturing productivity
  • Yield Council - provides a forum for yield managers to share best practices in yield management in areas such as low-yielding wafers, automatic defect classification, and defect inspection/identification
  • Facilities Council - assists ISMI member companies in implementing cost-effective, environmentally sensitive and technologically competitive facilities solutions in support of world-class semiconductor manufacturing

Test, Assembly and Package Councils

  • Assembly and Packaging Council - provides a framework for benchmarking and sharing of best practices related to assembly and packaging operations, technologies, business processes and industry standards
  • Wafer Probe Council - works to improve ISMI member company value in wafer probing technology and methods

Procurement and Logistics Councils

  • Critical Materials Council - establishes and maintains industry coordination for key materials and supply chain issues
  • Equipment Procurement Council - provides members with benchmarking and best known methods for semiconductor fabrication equipment, spares and services procurement
  • Semiconductor Logistics Forum - improves competitiveness by developing and implementing innovative, faster, and more cost-effective global logistics solutions

Quality and Reliability Councils

  • Quality Council - provides a framework for best practices sharing and benchmarking related to quality systems and standards, and for quality and reliability processes and technology
  • Reliability Council - provides guidance and a voice to the Quality Council, SEMATECH, ISMI, and the chip industry on issues related to technology reliability and product qualification
  • Failure Analysis Council - serves as a forum for members to share best practices in failure analysis techniques and lab processes
  • Statistics Council - promotes statistical methods in all member business processes, including manufacturing, supply chain, quality control and technology development
