Formatting the Document Using Style Names and Toolbar Icons

   
Overview  

The format toolbar contains icons that activate required styles and auto-formatting features. It is automatically activated when the template document opens.

   
Applying styles  

Place the cursor anywhere within a paragraph or select multiple paragraphs, then click on the toolbar icon to apply the style.

The toolbar will show up below the Word toolbar that stretches across the top of the screen. This is an example of the toolbar resized for a better view of details.

   
Style descriptions   Refer to the following table for information about commonly used styles and formatting functions.

Applies format for heading levels 1 through 5. Also applies format for appendix heading levels 1 through 3
Applies bulleted, dashed, numbered, and alphabetical list formats in stepped-down indention levels. Also applies reference style numbered list format.
Restarts numbering of alpha and numerical lists. Also resets bullets that have been accidently eliminated or altered.
Applies figure title format with auto-numbering
Applies table title format with auto-numbering

Applies figure note format
Applies table note format
Applies regular paragraph text format
