O.B. Bilous
Mr. Bilous joined IBM in 1960 and has held various management positions,
including research scientist, laboratory director, plant manager, and
general manager.
Since 1990 until his retirement in 2000, he was General Manager and Vice President of World Wide Manufacturing at IBM's Microelectronics Division. In this capacity he was responsible for the management of approximately 21,000 people and 12 fabricators located in Canada, US, Europe, and the Far East.
During that time he served on the management boards of SMST (a joint venture between IBM and Philips Semiconductor based in Germany), ALTIS Semiconductor (a joint venture between IBM and Siemens/ Infineon based in France) and Dominion Semiconductor (a joint venture between IBM and Toshiba based in the US). Mr. Bilous was also instrumental in starting up Micrus Semiconductor with Cirrus Logic.
Shortly after his retirement from IBM, Mr. Bilous was elected Chairman of the Board of SEMATECH. Additionally, Mr. Bilous serves on the board of Nantero, a start up company located in Woburn, Ma. The principal focus of Nantero is the development of high density nonvolatile random access storage devices using carbon nanotubes. Mr. Bilous has also recently been elected to the Supervisory Board of ASML.
Mr. Bilous received his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering in 1960 from The College of the City of New York and his Master of Electrical Engineering in 1965 from Syracuse University.
Mr. Bilous holds 15 patents in the areas of semiconductor and packaging technology and has published numerous articles and presented at many conferences and technical meetings worldwide.
