5th ISMI Symposium on Manufacturing Effectiveness
Short Course: "Fab Risk Management"
Monday, October 20
8AM—NOON
Instructors: Steve Trammell, ISMI, Brett Davis, Zephyr Environmental Corporation and David Montague, ABS Consulting
This 4-hour short course will present practical elements of risk assessment which can be used to improve manufacturing, facilities and ESH processes through analysis of process designs and system failure modes.
The short course will include presentations and discussion from several risk management experts, and include the following topics:
- Risk identification and analysis methodologies,
- Revitalization and improvement of the FMEA method,
- Applicability of advanced reliability/availability methods to factory infrastructure,
- Improving system up-time while achieving maintenance cost savings using reliability-centered maintenance,
- Introduction to Enterprise Risk Management and applicability to semiconductor operations.
This is an opportunity to learn how risk assessment techniques can be used to improve system reliability, quality and overall ESH performance while realizing direct cost savings and avoidance of down time.
About the Instructors
Steve Trammell is an ESH project manager at ISMI. He is responsible for facilitating a diverse set of ESH related projects involving risk management processes, resource conservation and sustainability and advanced materials assessments. Steve has over 25 years of experience in development and integration of risk management programs for major operations in the petrochemical, defense and electronics industries. He is active in the working groups for International Fire and Building Code development and the National Fire Protection Association and is an active member of the System Safety Society, Society of Fire Protection Engineers, and the Semiconductor Environmental Safety and Health Association. Steve has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas and a MBA, and is a registered Professional Engineer in Texas, a Certified Safety Professional and a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager.
Brett Davis has over twenty years of EHS experience in regulatory, compliance and consulting roles. He worked for Motorola Semiconductor Products Sector for over a dozen years, serving as a safety engineer, water and air permits compliance engineer, and resource conservation programs manager. He presently works for Zephyr Environmental and his current areas of interest are air permitting, climate change, process risk analysis and control, and energy and water conservation. Brett is a registered Professional Engineer in Texas and holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas, and earned an master’s degree in Hazardous Waste Management from National Technological University.
David Montague is Sr. Vice President of Technology at ABS Consulting Inc., the largest risk management services company in the U.S. He has worked in the field of risk and reliability engineering for the past 30 years. He is co-author of the CCPS book Guidelines on Hazard Evaluation with Work Examples, 2nd Ed. and a contributor to the CCPS book Chemical Process Quantitative Risk Assessment. Mr. Montague has also taught hundreds of short courses on reliability assessment methods for AIChE, ASME, AFPA, and the University of Tennessee. David holds a master's degree from the University of Tennessee and graduated summa cum laude from Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering.
