4th ISMI Symposium Set Oct. 24-25 in Austin; Focus is “Productivity in Depth”

Austin, TX (23 January 2007)—The 4th ISMI Symposium on Manufacturing  Effectiveness, a results-driven gathering of the world’s top microchip makers and their suppliers, will be held Oct. 24-25 in Austin with a theme of  “Productivity in Depth.”

This year’s Symposium, sponsored by International SEMATECH Manufacturing Initiative (ISMI), will offer actionable data on front-line issues affecting chip factories and their management teams. Included will be presentations on fab and equipment productivity, yield and metrology, environmental design, simulation and modeling, and other critical areas, plus supplier exhibits and poster sessions. A day of tutorials and workshops also is planned on Oct. 23.

Nearly 400 international technologists attended last year’s Symposium, leading editor Tom Cheyney to write in his Chip Shots webblog at www.micromagazine.com/blog: “[The] ISMI Symposium on Manufacturing Effectiveness … has come into its own. The event has become …one of the top three conferences focused on both the high-level statistics-driven and practical nitty-gritty aspects of chip manufacturing.”

As with previous meetings, this year’s ISMI Symposium will be oriented to career‑minded engineers looking for more productivity at lower cost. More information, including registration and other details, is available from Mike Schwartz, Symposium chair, at mike.schwartz@ismi.sematech.org or 512-356- 3926.
