Distinguished Chip Industry Experts to Attend ISMI Symposium Media Reception

Austin, TX (19 October 2004) - A media reception will be held during the final day of the ISMI Symposium to provide an opportunity for journalists to interview members of a panel of distinguished experts in the semiconductor industry.

The reception, which takes place on Wednesday, Oct. 27 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Executive Meeting Room of the Omni Hotel, will feature:

  • Sam Angelos, Vice President, Hewlett-Packard
  • Dan Hutcheson, CEO and President, VLSI Research
  • Robert Leachman, Professor, Competitive Semiconductor Manufacturing Program, UC Berkeley
  • Stuart McIntosh, Executive Vice President, ASML

  • Louis Steen, Vice President of Marketing, Tokyo Electron America

The Media Reception is the crowning event of the ISMI Symposium, a gathering of approximately 200 chip industry professionals probing ways to increase fab productivity. The Symposium will run Oct. 25-28 at the Omni Hotel and will offer presentations, commentary, and expert discussions on:

  • Data for maximizing fab productivity
  • Cutting-edge statistical tools for improving manufacturing effectiveness and reducing costs
  • Look-aheads at future manufacturing challenges, including fully automated fabs, and the paths for getting closer to 100 percent die yield and theoretical cycle time
  • Reviews of "green fab" designs from expert case studies, and tips on meeting future fab design requirements
  • Jeff Moseley, CEO, Economic Development & Tourism, Office of the Governor of Texas, opening remarks at 8 a.m. Oct. 26
  • James E. Doran, Executive Vice President and Board member of Spansion LLC and Senior Vice President for AMD, keynote at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 26
  • Shaunna Sowell, Vice President and Manager of Texas Instruments' DFAB facility, keynote at 8:15 a.m. Oct. 27
