Membership and Benefits

ISMI programs address two related manufacturing challenges:

The Productivity Challenge

  • How to determine, achieve, and maintain world class fab productivity
  • How to increase productivity today and into the future

The Cost Reduction Challenge

  • How to continuously reduce costs in today’s fabs
  • How to manage ever increasing capital, manufacturing, and R&D costs

ISMI members realize significant benefits, including a high return-on-investment, shared know-how from best practices and benchmarking, and the ability to leverage resources and influence industry direction.

How does ISMI do it?

Using the successful collaboration model pioneered by SEMATECH, ISMI develops innovative manufacturing programs based on:

  • Collaboration - sharing of best known methods among members
  • Shared Development Cost - cost of executing productivity improvement projects shared by all members
  • Industry Influence - ISMI membership represents half of the world’s IC production
  • Leveraged Resources - coordination and cost sharing with other industry resources

While participation can pay for itself in tactical manufacturing improvements, ISMI members also receive strategic advantages in productivity, cycle time, and reduced manufacturing costs.

Councils and Forums

Participation in ISMI's various Councils and Forums allows members to determine for themselves which aspects of manufacturing they wish to discuss or study. In any chosen area, participants can find out not only what constitutes best performance, but also how that best performance was achieved.
